Everything you need to know for FPL Gameweek 1
Welcome to the first weekly FPL Gameweek newsletter, where I share all of my weekly research that helps me make my FPL decisions and share that with you.
In this edition I will even share my Gameweek 1 team.
Gameweek 1 doesn't typically throw up too many shock results. I feel like Liverpool’s new attack will help them beat Bournemouth in the season opener on Friday although I'm not fully confident in their defensive line as of yet.
Newcastle will find it difficult with the impact that the Isak transfer saga will have had on the squad.
The biggest shock I have predicted is a draw at Old Trafford. Man United have been most effective in the big games in recent years and will be optimistic with their spending this summer.
The top 5 clean sheet teams for GW1 are unsurprisingly five of the ‘Big 6’. Spurs also take on Burnley who struggled for goals last season in the Championship.

The most likely goalscorer for Gameweek 1 are unsurprisingly dominated by Liverpool who take on Bournemouth who have lost most of their defence from last season.

Is Bruno Fernandes being slept on?
Bruno Fernandes, despite playing Arsenal in gameweek 1, feels like he is going to have a very strong year. He was involved in 20 of United’s 44 goals.
Bruno Fernandes was the only player to score more than one goal last season directly from free kicks and also was very good at Defensive Contributions for last season.
The United Captain forms a serious part of my thoughts for Captaincy in Gameweek 3.
Captaincy Corner
1- Mohamed Salah vs Bournemouth (H)
2- Erling Haaland vs Wolves (A)
3- Jarrod Bowen vs Sunderland (A)

Injury News
Three major injuries for you to consider for GW1.
Levi Colwill- ACL- will likely be out for a majority of the season. This may make Chelsea’s defence a little more fragile without their main defender but they are reported to be exploring alternatives in the transfer market.
James Maddison- ACL- Another player with a preseason injury which will keep them out for most of the season. This may impact how Spurs attack as they lack a little bit of flair and creativity in that position.
Jarrad Branthwaite- Hamstring- no confirmation of this yet but rumours that Branthwaite could miss the opening gameweeks due to a hamstring injury picked up in training. Could impact Pickford and Tarkowski as defensive options but could bring Keane in as a possible replacement option.
GW1 Team Reveal
Going for Salah and Haaland has been something I have pondered for long periods this summer. Both are too good at the beginning of the year to go without.
For my three Liverpool assets I have opted for a triple attack set up. They averaged 2.26 goals per game last season and if I can average 4+ attacking returns in these opening gameweeks across these players it will come off.
Four £4.5m defenders and Esteve allow for a mixture of DEFCON, attacking and clean sheet chasing based on the fixtures.
Sarr and Reijnders as 4th and 5th choice midfielders allow for the possibility of attacking returns and DEFCON in the midfield on a budget.
*There may be minor changes in this and my final team for GW1 but the principles will stay the same.
