FPL Gameweek 8: International Break fallout
Injury News and Suspensions:
Alderete and Sadiki have picked up injuries on international duty, which have left them doubts for Sunderland’s match against Wolves.
Antonee Robinson has injured his knee on USMNT duty and didn’t play against Australia on Tuesday.
Martin Odegaard’s injury has been confirmed as an MCL injury, which will keep him out for six weeks.
Ryan Gravenberch picked up a hamstring injury and, as a precaution, was withdrawn from the game at halftime for the Netherlands.
Niclas Fullkrug suffered a torn muscle on Germany duty and will be out for some time.
Ibrahima Konate withdrew from France duty after a quad injury against Chelsea.
Enzo Fernandez suffered knee pain at the beginning of the international window and withdrew from Argentina duty.
Fun stats for the week:
Mohamed Salah has scored 16 goals and six assists in his 17 games against Manchester United.
Crystal Palace haven’t scored in their last four meetings against Bournemouth. Both games finished 0-0 last season.
Yankuba Minteh (former Newcastle player) scored two of Brighton’s four goals in their four matches between the sides. Eddie Howe hasn’t won any of his last five games against Brighton
Bukayo Saka has scored three in his last four games against Fulham.
Best performers GW1-7
Goals:
Erling Haaland- 9
Antoine Semenyo- 6
Jaidon Anthony- 4
Igor Thiago- 4
Trevoh Chalobah and Jurrien Timber- 2
Haaland is the obvious standout with nine goals, but a surprise to many will be Jaidon Anthony of Burnley with four goals so far this season. Chalobah and Timber are the only two defenders to score two or more goals.
Assists:
Mohamed Kudus- 5
Jack Grealish- 4
Jeremy Doku- 4
Malick Diouf- 4
Big Chances:
Erling Haaland- 14
Jean-Phillippe Mateta- 9
Antoine Semenyo- 7
Enzo Fernandez- 6
Viktor Gyokeres- 6
Big Chances Created:
Adam Wharton- 5
Granit Xhaka- 4
Morgan Rogers- 4
David Brooks- 4
Mohamed Salah- 4
Interesting to see Wharton and Xhaka at the top of this as defensive midfielders, but they are set-piece takers for their respective sides.
Bonus points this season:
Erling Haaland- 17
Antoine Semenyo- 9
Jarrod Bowen- 9
Joao Pedro- 8
Roefs-6 Vicario-5
Two goalkeepers coming up just short of the top five in Roefs and Vicario, who are save monsters for their teams.
